Aelfdene Lykos
Realm Creator Born: 13 August 1723 - Died: Unknown
Aelfdene (pronounced ˈeldfɪn') is one of the most renowned magic wielders in history. Many years ago, humans and fae lived together in the world. Humans knew of the existence of faes and at first, they got along just fine. However, at some point, some radicals that believed the faes were dangerous began stirring up trouble. They would provoke faes all over, baiting the fae into defending themselves to capture footage of faes being dangerous. These instances were shared out.of context and played on human fears until one day, very few humans were left standing beside the faes in friendship. A war broke out; humans vs fae.
Aelfdene was merely a boy at the time, but his power was like no other. Though born a magic wielder, just like his mother, his father was unknown. Many assume his father was a dragon who masqueraded as an elf, attributing Aelfdene's abilities that surpassed the norms to him likely having the blood of dragons along with mana in his veins. He was only 12 when the war between humans and fae hit his home. He saw the worst of humans, and even faes, that day. His mother, who was dragged out of their home, had told him to hide when she realized what was coming for them. So he hid.
Closing his eyes, Aelfdene used his magic to create a small pocket dimension around himself to hide in. He could see the world around him normally, but nobody could see him. He bore witness to his mother's death, knowing her final wish for him to hide was to protect him. In turn, Aelfdene vowed to protect as many fae as he could. He travelled until he found a small uninhibited island off the west coast, and pushed his magic to his limits to widen the pocket dimension. Soon the pocket was covering not only the island, but even some of the waters around it. Within the created dimension, Aelfdene didn't stop pushing himself. He set up homes and portals connected to various places on Earth, however only those with fae-blood could see the portals and pass through them.
Slowly he began to bring various faes into his dimension, offering safety and security. It wasn't long before almost all fae had moved in and Aelfdene realized he needed to make more space. He left the barrier between dimensions as it was, taking up minimal space on Earth, but stretched the space within the barrier. The pocket dimension now was much larger on the inside than it appeared on the outside. He never really thought about what he would call this space he created, though many people asked him. Actually it wasn't even Aelfdene, himself, who named this new safe haven for fae. He let his lover name the place; the Realm of Dyx.
Though Aelfdene has since passed away, his magic still exists and retains the barrier between Dyx and Earth. His descendants take great pride in making sure the barrier never falls, worried that another war will break out should the humans re-learn of the true existence of Faes.
