Species
Beastial
In human myths there is the werewolf; part man and part beast, with the ability to transform from human to wolf on the night of a full moon. While not 100% accurate, the sentiment of a being transforming from human to animal is well within a beastial's capability. Beastials can choose to take on fully human appearances, or fully animal appearances at will. They are also able to do partial transformations, such as showing off their ears, tails, or even claws while still in a humanoid capacity. Just as the world has various animals in it, Beastials also reflect various types of animals. These types include canines, felines, reptiles, and even the occasional amphibian.
Child of Lilith
Even among faekind, those dubbed a "Child of Lilith" face struggles in the world. Often attributed to death and an imbalance of magic, children of lilth have a certain darkness around them. They have a harder time blending in with humans due to the nature of their species leading them to require aspects of living beings in order to survive. Sometimes these aspects might be human blood, in terms of vampires, or specific emotions, in terms of pixies. Each child of lilith requires something that, if taken in large quantities, could result in a human's death.
Dragon
Thought to be long gone from the world, there are still a few Dragons roaming the earth. Dragons have perfected the ability to polymorph and generally take on an appearance resembling an elf or reptilian beastial in order to not draw attention to themselves. Legend has it that the heart of a dragon could grant immortality to anyone who eats it. The legend is nothing but a false rumour started by an ancient fae who hated feeling powerless against the dragons' raw strength, and perpetuated by a dragon's long lifespan. It led to a massive hunting of all dragonkind and created the need for dragons to hide even among other fae. Along with the ability to polymorph, dragons are adept with elemental related abilities depending on what kind of dragon they are; fire, water, earth, or storm. History talks of a 5th kind of dragon, yet the knowledge of them appears to have been lost to sands of time.
Elf
Elves have a bit of a history with being lucky, so many of them end up quite cocky or feeling superior to others. Elves, depending on the type, have pointed ears and various skin tones. Twilight elves typically have dark blue or purple skin with freckles that resemble the stars, while Sunkissed elves are seen usually with tanned or dark red skin. There are a total of 6 known types of elves, and all tend to utilize some form of elemental magic specific to their own kind. Legend has it that the elves were originally types of fairies that angered a higher power and were stripped of their wings many centuries ago, however the legend has never been proven true.
Fairy
Fairies are the most known faekind in terms of legends. They are the beings you think of when you first hear the word "fae". Fairies have pointed ears, much like elves and pixies, and large sets of wings. Some fairies have only 1 pair of wings while others have up to 3 pairs. While tales in the human realm seem to think all fairies have translucent, sparkly wings; that is not always the case. Fairies have been known to sport various types of wings and not all fairy wings sparkle, as fairies have developed traits that vary between numerous types of fairies.
Human
While usually ignorant of faekind, some humans have been exposed through romantic relationships, or random misfortune and mishaps. Some humans may also believe the myths and legends that others dismiss and actively seek out faekind too. On the occasion that a human learns of faekind and reacts poorly or has a mental breakdown due to the knowledge, magic wielders are summoned to cast memory altering spells to restore balance to the human in question. Unfortunately this is often the reason that halflings, born from the union of a fae and a human, grow up without knowing about their fae side.
Magic Wielders
Though they appear human, magic wielders have magic (also known as mana) flowing through their veins. They do not consider themselves human, and are hard to identify. They have no need for human glamors but generally they have what is known as a magic mark somewhere on their body and tend to have blood of varying colours opposed the natural red of humans. This is assumed to be due to the blood mixing with their mana.
Orc
With skin that is usually a muted colour, often green or blue, orcs are large and muscular. They tend to have a visible underbite that is courtesy of 2 large canine teeth growing on their bottom jaw. While not known for their intelligence, orcs are very protective of their families, friends, and even small creatures. They seem to be particularly fond of fairies and pixies, though in the attempts to catch and protect the smaller faes, they can come across as aggressive due to some clumsiness. Least to say, there is likely a lot of misunderstandings between orcs and the little flying faes.
Siren
Sirens, otherwise known as merfolk, are fae that naturally dwell in bodies of water. From oceans to lakes and rivers, sirens can be found anywhere that is deep enough for them to swim. Depsite being gifted with heightened athletic abilities due to needing muscles to maneuver through the water, a sirens main power comes from their voice. In history, sirens were known to lure sailers to their deaths by manipulating their minds with their songs. However today's sirens have evolved to using their voices for a variety of other things. Some may still choose to follow the old ways, but most have decided to use their song to be able to live easier among humans.
